About The Creator
Hello creative soul, I'm Lauren. I'm a painter and former high school art teacher turned business owner, mindset mentor and mandala artist. For as long as I can remember, I've worked with colour (and the principals of colour theory) to inform my palette design choices and elevate the impact of my final pieces. I believe that my affinity for and understanding of advanced colour principals is about 75% of why I've always found it easy to sell my art and attract a fast-growing community from sharing it online. Not because I'm the best artist, but because I understand WHY people love art, and the psychological and emotional implications that colour has on the art that we both love, and the art that we don't.
I haven't just used pro palette design for my own art, either. I've taught it to countless high school art students, especially those putting together advanced art portfolios in order to apply to some of the world's most elite art schools.
Pro-level palette design can take a finished piece from flat, to depth-filled. It's the reason that we can't look away from some pieces of artwork, while immediately moving on from others.

Creating captivating colour palettes means standing out on people's For You & Discover pages and increasing engagement on socials. It means painting mandalas that people feel emotionally drawn to and thus, desire to have more of in their lives. It means elevating the success of your final pieces, and attracting more opportunities through your art.
A lot of intention has gone into planning PPD so that it's both informational and also extremely applicable.
You'll start with 7 theory-based modules that cover the principals of colour theory and how to apply them to designing stunningly captivating pro-level palettes, before moving onto the "Pro Palette Formula", which brings together the teachings of the course to provide you with a plug-and-play approach to designing pro palettes of all different kinds, no matter your style or colour preference.
Then, you'll move into the "Recipe Book" section of the course, where I walk you through 15 different step-by-step palette design tutorials, so that you can see the course teachings in practice while also getting access to 15 stunning recipes you can use or customize for your own paintings.
If you're ready to become a pro at designing captivating colour palettes that catapult your skill, audience and/or income as an artist, Pro Palette Design has been built for you.

Why Pro Palette Design?
The colours in any particular piece of art (and the specific ways in which they're combined), create an overall experience that's either highly magnetic to the person viewing it, or it isn't.
There are two key reasons why understanding colour theory as a painter (and intentionally using it to elevate the success of your pieces), matters:
1:
The way we combine the colours in any given palette, is either coherent, or it isn't.
Not every shade of red goes with every shade of blue (not even close, actually). Creating a "rainbow" palette that really speaks to people, isn't as simple as choosing one of each colour. In fact, it's easy to unknowingly combine colours in a way that make a piece of art less-than-magnetic on a subconscious level.
How you combine your colours directly correlates with how captivated someone is with the final work of art, and whether or not they want to continuously view your work, follow you online and potentially purchase a piece.

2:
People love works of art (viewing them, buying them, watching them be created) not because they're pretty to look at, but because of the emotional experience they offer.
Joy, intrigue, peace, excitement, inspiration, hope, freedom, possibility.
Did you know that different colours (and different strategic combinations of colours) create different emotional experiences (both good and bad, both wanted and unwanted) for those viewing them?
Understanding the science and psychology of colour theory means combining colours and designing pro palettes that evoke highly desirable emotional experiences in your viewers, turning them into excited audience members and customers.
The Curriculum
Pre-Course Module: The "Genetic Make-Up of Colour"
_edited.png)
The pre-course module has been added for the artist who either doesn't have access to Decoart Americana, doesn't have every colour that's available (/doesn't want to spend hundreds or thousands buying them all in order to create an unlimited range of palettes) OR who wishes to use a different brand/kind of paint altogether. Inside, you'll learn how to really see colour for what it is (possibly for the first time), breaking it down so that you're able to custom mix and match your own. The pre-course will also equip you with some game-changing online tools that'll help you determine how much purple vs. green is in the version of blue you're currently wanting to match from another brand so that you can mix it yourself.
Designing pro palettes starts with understanding colour and the unique "recipe" of each one. The pre-course has been built to teach you how to do exactly that.
Module 1 - The Magnetic Mandala
Module 1 is your foundation for developing truly magnetic mandalas through strategic colour combining. Inside, we'll talk about the many ways in which informed palette design will transform both your art work, and the opportunities you attract through it.
Module 2 - The Science of Colour Theory
Module 2 is your introduction to the colour wheel, with a quick run-down of the colours that make it up, as they relate to palette design. You'll learn how to use it to inform your colour combining choices, and why it’s an artist’s best friend when it comes to creating next-level magnetic mandalas and growing your practice, audience and income as a painter.
Module 3 - The Psychology of Colour
Module 3 is where the magic really starts to happen. Inside, you'll learn about the significant psychological and emotional implications of colour, and what most people are (actually) looking for in a piece of artwork and how to stand out and draw in through strategical colour choice & palette design. By the end of module 3, you'll know how to start making colour choices based on the emotions you wish to convey through your artwork, and how to start designing palettes that are highly appealing to those you most wish to attract in terms of customers and audience members.
Module 4 - Warm vs. Cool Colours
When you start to understand how to combine cool vs. warm-toned colours effectively, you simultaneously start designing palettes that people are naturally drawn to, because the emotions they evoke are now harmonious and alluring instead of contradictory or incohesive.
Inside module 4 you'll take colour psychology to a whole new level, through learning how to combine and pair up cool vs. warm-toned colours within your palettes in a way that creates a captivating emotional experience for your viewers.
Module 5 - Colour Properties
There are three key colour "properties" that, when intentionally utilized, create depth, flow and harmony throughout your final art pieces. Inside Module 5, you'll learn about each one as it relates to the process of designing stunning palettes, and how to utilize each to elevate your palettes into new levels of professionalism and visual impact.
Module 6 - Colour Schemes
Colour schemes are the different colour combinations that have become widely regarded as desirable to the human mind and eye, by combining colours within a palette that compliment each other but also create visual intrigue. Inside module 6 you'll learn about the ten that lend themselves most effectively to mandala painting, and how to choose which scheme to use and when, depending on the emotional experience you're endeavouring to create within the piece you're currently designing a palette for.
Module 7 - Pro Palette Design (The Formula)
Now that you're an expert in the colour theory principals, schemes and properties that inform professional palette choices and colour combining, it's time to put it into practice.
Module 7 starts by walking you through a virtual tutorial of designing a pro palette from start to finish through a step-by-step, repeatable and customizable pro palette "formula", before we move onto the first full-length palette tutorial inside of Pro Palette Design. In this module you'll gain an invaluable colour combining process that'll allow you to create gorgeous, intentional palettes that'll have your art pieces tell stories, stand out from the crowd and speak specifically to those your art is meant for (even if that's currently just you!).
Module 8 - The Recipe Book
I don't know about you, but I'm a hands-on learner. I don't want to just share the teachings of colour theory with you, I want to demonstrate exactly how they're put into practice, so that the process of designing visually impactful colour palettes becomes automatic and intuitive for you moving forward.
The "Recipe Book" consists currently of 18 different step-by-step tutorials, documenting me designing palettes within each of the ten colour schemes. These tutorials also serve as palette "recipes", which you can use and tweak within your painting practice for those wanting some "done-for-you" palettes to jump to whenever needed.
Module 9 - Advanced Pro Palette Techniques
There's so much more you can do with your paint than just dots and swooshes! Inside module 9, you'll learn how to create stunning effects within your mandalas like a centre gradient design, floral swoosh patterns (strategically using the colours of your designed pro palette), non-cracking centre dots and incorporating metallics effectively into your palettes.
